Before you start
Step 1: Power Reset
First, try performing a Power Reset if you have not done so already. A Power Reset does not usually reset settings such as those mentioned below Warning to factory settings. If you have already performed the Power Reset, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Factory data reset
WARNING! A "Factory data reset" deletes all customized settings, including channels, account information (such as a Google account), system and applications data, downloaded apps, wired and Wi-Fi network settings, parental lock settings, and camera device's data. The TV will return to how it was at the time of purchase.
Select your TV type:
- Open the
Settings screen.
How to access Settings - If the remote control has a Quick Settings (
or
) button, press the Quick Settings button and select
Settings. - If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings (
or
) button, press the HOME button and select
Settings. - If your model is BRAVIA 6 (A60), press the HOME button on the remote control, then press the Dashboard (
) button, and select All Settings.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Select Reset.
- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Factory reset → Factory reset.
- Select Factory data reset → Erase everything.
Note: If you do not want to proceed, then select Cancel or press the Back button on the remote control.
Note: If the Quick Settings (
or
) button cannot be used, some models with a Help button on the remote control may allow the steps below:
Using the Help menu - On the TV remote control, press the HELP button or press the
(Input) button, and then select Help.
Note: If Help is not shown in the input selection screen, select Edit and add Help. - Select Manual (Help Guide).
- Select Settings.
- Select Using the Quick Settings.
- Select
Settings. - Select System.
- Select About.
- Select Reset.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Select Erase everything.
Using the Home button (BRAVIA 3 II (XR30M2)) - Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Navigate to the top right corner and select the Settings icon.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Select Reset.
- Select Factory reset.
Notes:
- Some of the application's data might be recovered if apps synced with your Google account.
- Android 9, Android 10:
HOME → Settings → Device Preferences or Accounts & Sign-In → Google → Choose synced apps → select items which sync with an account → Sync now. - Android 7.0, Android 8.0:
HOME → Settings → Google → Choose synced apps in Sync → select items which sync with an account → Sync now. - Android 6.0:
HOME → Settings → Personal → Google → Choose synced apps in Sync → select items which sync with an account → Sync now.
- The factory reset may take a few moments. Please wait until you are informed that the process has been completed.
- After the factory reset process completes successfully, your TV proceeds into the Initial Setup wizard. You will need to agree to the Google Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
- If you use Touchpad remote control, the pairing sequence will have to be activated again after a factory reset.
How to perform a Factory data reset
The procedure varies depending on the status of the TV.
Note: The display screen may differ depending on the model or OS version.
- Turn on the TV.
- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
Note: If the HOME button on the remote control does not work, refer to If the Home screen cannot be displayed. - Select
Settings. - The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Device Preferences → Reset.
- Select Device Preferences → About → Reset, Factory reset, or Factory data reset.
- Select Storage & Reset.
- Select Factory data reset or Reset.

- Select Erase Everything.
Notes: - If asked to provide a password, enter the password for the Parental lock (Broadcast).
- For X7 and W8 series: Skip this step.
- Select Yes.
Note: If the Home screen cannot be displayed (the HOME button on the remote control does not work), check the following.
For X74H_X75H, X7, and W8 series If there is a response when you press the
ACTION or Quick Settings button on the remote control, follow the procedure below.
- Press the
ACTION or Quick Settings button on the remote control. - Select Settings.
- Select Device Preferences.
- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select About → Factory reset or Factory data reset → Factory data reset.
- Select Reset.
- Select About → Reset.
For other models If there is a response when you press the HELP button on the remote control, follow the procedure below.
Note: The display screen may differ depending on the model or OS version.
- Turn on the TV.
- Press the HELP button on the remote control.
- In How to use your TV, select Manual (Help Guide) or Help Guide.
- Select Settings.

- Select Configuring the TV.
- Select Watching TV or TV.
- Select
Settings.

- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Device Preferences → Reset. (Android 9)
- Select Storage & reset. (Android 8.0 or earlier)
- Select Factory data reset.
- Select Erase Everything.
Note: If asked to provide a password, enter the password for the Parental lock (Broadcast). - Select Yes.
