There is no sound from the audio system connected to my BRAVIA TV (BRAVIA 3 (S30), BRAVIA 2 II (S20M2))

If you’re not hearing sound from your audio system when it’s connected to your BRAVIA TV, you’re not alone. In some situations, audio may play through the TV speakers instead, especially after the TV has been turned off overnight. This article explains why this happens and walks you through simple steps to restore sound to your audio system.

After the TV has been turned off overnight or longer, turning on an audio system connected to the BRAVIA TV’s HDMI (eARC) port using the remote control may cause sound to play from the TV speakers instead of the audio system.

Note: This issue may occur under the following conditions:

    1. The audio system is connected to the TV's HDMI (eARC) port.
    2. The sound output setting is set to sound system.
    3. Turn off the power using the TV remote control and leave it overnight.
    4. Turn on the TV and the audio system using the remote control.

Why this happens and what you can do

This issue is caused by a Google software and will be resolved in a future software update.
The update schedule has not yet been announced. Until the update becomes available, try one of the following options:

    • Option 1: Switch the TV's Speakers settings between TV Speakers and Audio System.
      1. On the TV remote control, press the Quick Settings button.
      2. Select Speakers and switch the option between TV Speakers and Audio System.
    • Option 2: Unplug the audio system’s power cord (mains lead), wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in.
