What does the X above the signal strength icon in the status bar mean?

Solution

You may notice an X above the signal strength icon in the status bar in Android™ 7.0 or higher. This icon indicates that mobile data is turned off.

To remove the X above the signal strength icon.

Android 12 or higher

1. Find and tap [Settings] → [Network & internet] → [SIMs]
2. Tap the switch to the right of the [Mobile Data] to enable it.

Android  9, 10, 11

1. Find and tap [Settings] → [Network and Internet] → [Mobile network]
2. Tap the switch to the right of the [Mobile Data] to enable it.

In case if X mark is still existing even if mobile data is enabled, please check the following points.

1. Try removing the SIM card and inserting it again.
2. Try to check the network condition following the article There is no network coverage or mobile data connection
