    About this download

    For owners of Walkman A series, we offer NWZ-A10 firmware update program to the latest version 1.21. Please read carefully the following instructions.

    Contents of the update
    This utility updates the Walkman® player to system software version 1.21 and provides the following benefits:

    • Addressed the issue where the WALKMAN may not properly operate during play back or may restart unintentionally.

    Benefits provided from previous updates includes:

    • Memory type (built-in memory/SD card) can now be selected even while the USB is connected.
    • Addressed the issue that in rare cases, sound may not be produced when WALKMAN is connected with the digital amplifier.

    How to confirm the Model and the System software version

    Please confirm the Model and the Firmware version from the steps below.

    1. Press and hold the BACK / HOME button until the Home menu appears.
    2. SelectSettings > Common Settings > Unit Information.

    Confirm the Model and the Firmware version.

    • After updating, the firmware cannot be reinstated an earlier version.
    • Please backup all data from the unit to the computer in advance, since the data may be lost when updating as they are remained on the unit. We cannot guarantee in case the tracks and the data are damaged or deleted by this update.
    • When updating, the unit is needed to have a free space about 80 MB. Please confirm the size from the steps below.
      1. Press and hold the BACK / HOME button until the Home menu appears.
      2. SelectSettings > Common Settings > Unit Information.
      Confirm the Free / Total System Storage.
      And, please select Location for USB Transfer to System Storage.
      1. Press and hold the BACK / HOME button until the Home menu appears.
      2. SelectSD Card Settings > Storage for File Transfer > Location for USB Transfer.
      3. Set to System Storage.
    • When downloading the program and updating the firmware, log on to the computer with the administrator name or with any name which belongs to the administrator.

    Update procedure

    1. The update program download is started by clicking Download button.
    2. After completion of the download, connect your Walkman to your PC by USB connection.
    3. Quit all software running on your PC.
    4. Double click the saved file, and work by following displayed massages.
      * Please do not disconnect the unit from the PC during updating.
      * During updating, USB connection is automatically controlled and Connecting USB indication is off with the control.
      Also, the USB disconnect message may appear on some computers.
    5. When the message of completing updating is displayed, click Finish button.

    After update

    Confirm the firmware version after the update program is installed successfully by refering to steps fromHow to confirm the Model and the Firmware version.
    The update program installation is succeeded when 1.21 is shown on the screen.
