What does this download do?

Firmware refers to the operational software that is embedded in the Walkman. This utility will update the firmware of the Walkman to Version 1.3.

Improvement:

The time of December 31st in the leap years is not displayed correctly or cannot be set correctly.

Target Firmware: The firmware version of the following products should be less than or equal to 1.2.

Target Model: NWD-B103F / NWD-B105F

Verifying the Model and Firmware Version:

Press and hold the BACK/HOME button until the Home menu appears.
Press / button to select (Settings), and then press button to confirm.
Press / button to select Information, and then press button to confirm.
Confirm [1:] the Model and [3:] the Firmware version.

For Windows Vista/Windows XP users

Log on with Administrator user name when downloading the program and updating the firmware.
If you are Windows Vista user, “Windows needs your permission to continue” message appears in the User Account Control dialog box. Click Continue to proceed, and follow the announcements.

For Windows 2000 user

Log on with Administrator user name, or with the Administrator group account when downloading the program and updating the firmware.

* Service Pack 4 or later is supported in Windows 2000 Professional.

Applicable Models NWD-B103F, NWD-B105F Download procedure Set up the folder for storing the downloaded file on the hard disk. Assuming the folder is named FWUP and is created in C drive. Save the downloaded file (NWD-B100F_V1_3.exe) in this folder. When the download is completed, use Windows Explorer to browse to the folder where the file is saved. Click View and click Details. * If the file size is the same as the download size (3,447 KB), the download is successful. If the size is different, please delete the file and download it again. Update procedure Note: Please transfer all tracks and data from the unit to the computer before carrying out the firmware upgrade. We do not guarantee the tracks and data stored in the unit are not damaged or deleted during the upgrade process. Before Updating Connect the unit to the computer. Set up a folder on the computer hard drive. Copy all the music tracks and data from the unit into the folder. Start Updating Quit all software applications running on Windows and disconnect the unit from the computer. * If other Digital Music Players are connected to the computer, disconnect all of them from the computer. Windows Vista users: Click Start button on the task bar of the computer, and click on Run... followed by All Programs -> Accessory. Windows XP/Windows 2000 users: Click Start button on the task bar of the computer and click on Run... The Run... dialog box will open. Input C:\FWUP\NWD-B100F_V1_3.exe in the Open text box and click OK. The program will be started. Connect the unit to the computer. Confirm the Current Firmware Version / Upgrade Firmware Version. * If Format Data Area is selected in Download options, the unit will be formatted and all music tracks and data are deleted during the update. Make sure to backup the necessary files into the computer before proceeding to next step. Click Start. * Please do not disconnect the unit from the computer during updating. When the message of completing updating is displayed, click Close. Transfer all music tracks and data to the unit that was previously backed up. Firmware Update Verification Please confirm the firmware version when the update program is completed. The update installation is successful when firmware version 1.3 is shown on the screen. Before Updating

Connect the unit to the computer.

Start Updating

Quit all software applications running on Windows and disconnect the unit from the computer.
* If other Digital Music Players are connected to the computer, disconnect all of them from the computer.
Windows Vista users: Click Start button on the task bar of the computer, and click on Run... followed by All Programs -> Accessory.
Windows XP/Windows 2000 users: Click Start button on the task bar of the computer and click on Run...
The Run... dialog box will open.
Input C:\FWUP\NWD-B100F_V1_3.exe in the Open text box and click OK.
The program will be started.
Connect the unit to the computer.
Confirm the Current Firmware Version / Upgrade Firmware Version.
* If Format Data Area is selected in Download options, the unit will be formatted and all music tracks and data are deleted during the update. Make sure to backup the necessary files into the computer before proceeding to next step.
Click Start.
* Please do not disconnect the unit from the computer during updating.
When the message of completing updating is displayed, click Close.
Transfer all music tracks and data to the unit that was previously backed up.

Firmware Update Verification
