“With a broad span of zoom ranges fitted into a single camera, you don't have to waste time on swapping lenses and you won't miss a single moment.”

Sanwit Whansanit captures enthralling experiences with the RX100 VII

Being a musician who is constantly on the move for his next big gig, Sanwit found himself enamoured with the many dazzling sights he came across on his travels. This encouraged Sanwit to pick up photography as a hobby. From glittering galaxies to stunning streetscapes, the Thailand native does not limit himself to what he can capture. Sanwit enjoys going places where no one has ever been before, capturing every fleeting moment that he sees with his camera.

Having been photographing for three and a half years, Sanwit developed his passion when he was working abroad. Starting out with a mere phone camera, Sanwit realised that the quality of his photos could not compare to those taken by his friends who owned digital cameras. Upon his return to Thailand, Sanwit purchased a camera of his own and his love for the craft grew with every new photo he took. Even though he did not pursue a professional career in photography, Sanwit hosts regular workshops on landscape photography and photo editing to share his massive love for the craft with a wider audience.

Aiding Sanwit in his photographic endeavors is his handy companion, the compact and lightweight second camera — the RX100 VII

Pocket-sized convenience

Being a landscape photographer, Sanwit has to go the further distance to capture prime shots such as galaxies and sunrises. As such, he tends to carry a lighter load with him. Lightweight and compact, the RX100 VII makes it more convenient for Sanwit to go on his photography expeditions. Fitted with a 24-200mm optical zoom lens and low-light shooting capabilities, the RX100 VII packs a myriad of pro features into one small camera.

The RX100 VII's advanced eye-detection and tracking performance are the secret to beautiful portraits.

As a second camera, the RX100 VII meets every one of Sanwit’s expectations. He swears by the camera’s compactness, which has allowed him to travel lighter.

“The RX100 VII fits comfortably in the palm of your hand,” Sanwit said. “With a variety of lenses combined into a single camera, you don't have to waste time on swapping lenses and you won't miss a single moment.”

Not a single photo opportunity missed

Being adventurous at heart, Sanwit enjoys taking shots of people taking part in dynamic extreme sports such as wakeboarding and surfing. With lightning-fast 0.02 second autofocus capabilities, the RX100 VII effectively freezes his subjects in rapid motion with razor-sharp focus.

When photographing dynamic subjects, there is no telling what will happen next. On one of his photography expeditions, Sanwit was taking a picture of a woman surfing. Mid-shot, another surfer came into frame but due to the Real-time Tracking feature on the RX100 VII, the focus never left his subject. This left Sanwit impressed and cemented his affirmation for the RX100 VII’s capabilities.

To further demonstrate the RX100 VII’s unrivalled speed, Sanwit captured a Samurai slicing an orange in half with 90fps Single Burst Shooting, which captured his subject’s riveting action in rapid succession and exceptionally high quality.

The RX100 VII also packs an exceptional zoom range of 24-200mm, allowing Sanwit to capture subjects from a distance without losing sharpness. Even the smallest details from a distance are picked up with the camera’s broad zoom range.

The Soft Skin Effect reduces facial wrinkles and skin dullness, for better portraits.

Viewing the world from another angle

Always on the move, Sanwit enjoys stepping out of his comfort zone to take his photos to the next level, or as he puts it, “searching for new perspectives.” As a photographer, there are many possibilities that Sanwit wishes to explore so that he can bring out his creative spark. Being particularly fond of astrophotography, the low-light capabilities of the RX100 VII speak out to Sanwit. Thanks to a large 1.0-type image sensor, Sanwit is able to capture galaxies with remarkable clarity and low noise production.

As Sanwit prefers shooting from low angles to attain a quaint-looking image, the Tiltable LCD screen on the RX100 VII gives him an advantage. Tiltable upwards by 180° and downwards by 90°, Sanwit is able to take photos from various creative angles that showcase new perspectives.

Of course, good photography does not stop at a camera’s specifications. Sanwit believes that it is important for photographers to constantly explore their surroundings for new perspectives. Personally, Sanwit enjoys challenging himself by seeking out places where no one has ever been before for photos.

“On one of my expeditions, I discovered a gorgeous view of the Milky Way above the Tad Ton Waterfall in Thailand,” Sanwit recounted. “I haven’t seen anyone take pictures from that location before I found it, so being able to capture the view felt extremely rewarding.”

“I believe that the perfect landscape photos should encourage others to visit the place where you shot it. If your photos can entice an audience to visit the location where they were taken, you would know that you have taken some good shots.”

As a second camera, Sanwit is extremely pleased with the RX100 VII and continues to recommend it to everyone he knows.
