I purchased the A7V about three weeks ago, upgrading trom A7iv, the difference is quite amazing, I recently have become interested in butterfly photography and have been trying uncessfully to photograph butterflies in flight, but since having the A7V I have now have quite a success rate using the pre capture and 30fps, image quality is significantly better, so yes glad I upgraded.

A7V has been an excellent upgrade for me from the D5500 Nikon. Sharp photos, great in low light and awesome and fast autofocus.

So far, I’ve only tested it for wildlife photography, and the autofocus is incredibly impressive

Excellent camera, have done 2 studio shoots so far and have yet to find anything that needs improvement. I have the A7IV and thats also a great camera but the A7V is certainly better. Auto focus is amazingly quick, images with the 24-70 GM lens are tack sharp I had a mess around with the 30 FPS electronic shutter with pre-capture, the results were excellent and with practise and the right settings I have no doubt could be improved a lot further.

Hi Sony First of all Thank you so much for a excellent Camera, i would like to say that i have been using the Sony A7 Iv for few years and I was happy using it, but when Sony A7M5 was introduced I knew I wanted to upgrade after looking at the spec you had came out with. So i decided to buy the A7M5 ASAP. Well the moment came true when I actually had the camera in hand and tried using for the first time in wildlife, OMG the camera is absolutely a beast, like Autofocus, 30FPS, tracking, AI, iBIS, 4Axis Tilt Screen, BlackOut free, Wow the list goes on and on. The above list of features were missed out on the Sony A7IV and you can actually make out the difference between the two. The Sony A7M5 is absolutely a Beast . Also a big thanks to GP Pro ( Parthiv) for helping to my Camera at the earliest.

Amazing auto focus. Upgraded from a7iv. Bought this for holiday trip in Melbourne. Taking lots of picture of children. Auto focus was on point. The improved tilt screen makes taking kids photo at low angle is easier.

Upgraded from A7III and from a photography perspective I am left underwhelmed. Even in good light the photo rendering isn’t very sharp or clean. Hardly noticeable difference with the 8 year old A73. Video updates are good, screen it better but other than that I would have stuck to the A73 which is only a fraction slower and image quality nearly identical.

A7MK5 is great all-round camera with pre-capture and good AI AF.

I was amazed with the focussing capabilities of this camera. Especially the eye detections make photography a fun to shoot giving me the ability to concentrate more on my composition. You don't have this pleasure long time ago using the film cameras.

Wanted a camera to replace my A9II for speed and better resolution. The A7V is faster at 30fps and with PreCapture has been a revelation for my wildlife and particularly birds in flight photography. The sensor readout is faster enough and it’s nice to have 33 mp vs 24MP for a bit more cropability! The focussing is better than anything I have used before & I can only agree with many reviewers who say this is nearly as fast as the A1ii & A9iii cameras! Overall a brilliantly camera for my needs and a great companion to my A7RV which I love for its resolution. I would love to try the A7RVI & I’m sure it is amazing but these two cameras give me what I need & share batteries and battery grip. Also I think 68mp at 30fps might me a little too challenging for my computer and storage management when the 33MP gives me a sweet spot. I’m a stills shooter so can’t comment on the video aspects. PreCapture is amazing & so grateful that Sony added it to this camera!

The best investment for me this year. Trade in my A9 and A1 and bought 2 units of A7V. Love the tracking, autofocus and the color. No regrets.

Sony M5 is the Hybrid machine gun. The focusing system is too good

I move to Sony because of it’s lightweight. But every new generation it get heavier. If only it can be lighter, then it’s a five stars to me

The camera comes with many useful functions though sometimes it feels as if the extensive menu is difficult to navigate. Ideal for photography and amateur videography. It's nice that there are differentiated side panels for the connectors.

I’ve been really impressed with the image quality from this camera. The level of detail is excellent, especially in well-focused shots—the sharp flower image shows great clarity and color accuracy. The background blur (bokeh) is very smooth and natural, which makes subjects stand out nicely. Low-light performance is also strong. The sunset shots retain good color and dynamic range, although shadows can get quite dark if not adjusted. Autofocus seems very capable when it locks correctly, but as seen in a couple of my flower shots, it can miss focus occasionally, especially with shallow depth of field. Overall, it’s a powerful and versatile camera that delivers professional-looking results, particularly for close-up and outdoor photography. With a bit of practice to master focus and settings, it performs exceptionally well.

I got the camera just before a safari trip and I must say its light and really fast camera. The feature set is as good as the top end full-frame cameras and you cant complain. The screen tilt and rotate was a big plus for me since I have been using the a1 for last 2 years and wanted to add a new camera to the bag. The buttons are well placed for access even without having to get your eye off the view finder. Battery life is also great. Video quality is just perfect since the files are not as large as the a1 and the smoothness and pic resolution is top class.

Having been an avid Nikon user for years (last was Z7II), I finally took the plunge and changed to the Sony A7V...... It does not disappoint, from easy to use menu's and customisable buttons, I was up and running straight away. The focus system is second to none, I now realise I should have changed years ago. Well done Sony.

Everything is good except the raw files like compressed raw and compressed hq are note open is some of software like lighroom and photos its showing file si damaged so please fix that issue.... thank you

This camera is a huge upgrade from my previous camera A7M4. It has better AWB, the new creative picture profiles are awesome! I like the new FL 3 look!

I put the A7V to the test as I usually do birding shots with a previous A1 that I bought 4 years ago. It didn’t disappoint as the 30 FPS was good enough to capture the shots that I wanted!

I have been out with the A7v a few times and I absolutely love it.

Sony ILCE-a7M5 E-mount is a huge step up from where I was with a Panasonic DMC-G-80 and I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to manage such a new and powerful camera without significant help. How wrong I was, it’s intuitive, user friendly and a joy…so far!

I have upgrade from the a7lll to this a7v and it's a massive upgrade. I'm 99% photographer and my video once or twice a year. The images coming out of the Sony a7v are spectacular. Focus is these days on another level and the a7v is so quick to focus and once grabs the subject doesn't let go. The partially stacked sensor and 30fps blackout free is incredible, although I find myself shotting 20fps and using boost function if I want 30fps. Pre-capture too looks good and looking forward for a chance to putting this feature to the test. I have the Sony 200-600mm lens attached mainly for wildlife and as you can see by my photographs it's a fantastic combination.

Specification sheet never tells how good a camera is. I've been using my Sony A7v for a few weeks now and it ticked all my requirements. Dynamic range in photos taken using mechanical shutter is absolutely unbelievable. Excellent camera.

After Struggling 2 months getting it on 29 January. From that day struggle worth it.. Cause of increased base iso to 8000..

The camera’s autofocus frequently misses the subject, even when using continuous tracking while the subject is moving. Additionally, the colors displayed on the camera screen are not accurate. Images appear bright and vibrant on the camera display, but when they are imported to a computer, they look noticeably dull and less vivid.

I recently traded my previous equipment, replacing a well known brand and moving over to Sony Mirrorless after reviewing and viewing items at a local camera shop. Its taking me a little while to adapt and learn all the features however this has not put me off what I gfeel has been a worthwhile positive change.

I bought it a month ago and I really love it. The camera has many features and it's fantastic.

No regret to get it, it perform much better then A7M4, larger lcd screen and super fast focus with AI that shooting birds and animals, especially pre-capture and electronic shutter that capture 30fps. The improvement of battery life and better grid is a good work by Sony alpha team.

I bought this to replace my A7iii. The AI autofocus system has improved quite a lot! It also has a few more different and improved autofocus system which previous A7iii did not have. Also, it has different menu system from the A7iii. Plus it's improved and more options to select and customize my camera. More functions, faster fps with better Buffer, better dynamic range , better video than my previous Sony a7iii. I get to use it's multi angle display when shooting different angles (recently it's some low angle shots for street Photography). It's just so cool! Fast start up too! Of course , not everything is perfect. Three things I gripe about : 1. Buffer is not enough for 30fps. IT can blast only a short while. 2. The display still needs improvement for sunlight legibility. Even though I set it to sunlight mode, I still cannot really see the display very well when strong sun in Singapore shines on it. 3. IT still has not maximize the read and write speed of the fastest cfexpress A G series Card. I hope sony solve this "issue". Conclusion. WOW.

Very good hybrid camera. Love the dynamic range and also the dynamic active feature so much.

I bought this to upgrade my A7IV and I'm very pleased I did. The 4-axis screen is perfect, the auto-subject AF is very responsive and for video, the dynamic active stabilisation is so good. There are many other features I like but those are the main ones for me.

I bought the Sony A7 V last week and it’s amazing. I was torn between the IV and the V and wasn’t sure if spending an extra £1000 was worth it. Honestly, yes—if you plan to keep the camera long-term and want AI-supported features, it’s worth it. I’m really happy with it. Hopefully Sony releases a student cashback 😅😅

Picked up the Sony A7V last week and I’m genuinely impressed. As a dance, sports, and portrait photographer, this camera fits my workflow perfectly. Fast, reliable, and feels great in hand. The autofocus is excellent for movement, and paired with the 70–200mm f/2.8 GM II, it’s an absolute beast. Definitely worth buying.

The new a7V is not able to keep the date and time. The Tracking Area spots place the tracking area box in random spots, ignoring both joystick direction and subject detection. Yes, I am using it in AF-C mode. It seems to work slightly better with subject detect turned off, but from my understanding, it is supposed to work with subject detect. Having said this, when the camera does catch the subject its directed on, the photo quality is amazing. I may be completely revising this review if I can get in touch with Sony to find a solution for these problems. But also, when spending that much money on a camera, shouldn't it work flawlessly out of the box?

i pre order during its lauching, now using it for filming sports video - football. From FX to A7v, really good performance. Even filming during hot environment, more than 41c but no overheating issue even shooting in 4K res. 2 Weeks now shooting in Saudi Arabia for football coverage, no issue at all. Love the output color & focusing performance.

As camera mainly used for bird photography, pre capture,30fps are very useful to me.

Upgraded from A7CR to A7 V and have been using it for about two weeks. The body feels slightly bulkier than the A7CR and takes some getting used to. Build quality is decent, though it feels a bit more plasticky than the A7CR, especially the fully articulating screen. Autofocus is excellent—very fast and responsive with the AI AF system. Auto White Balance and color science are noticeably improved, with more accurate and pleasing skin tones. The 30fps burst mode is a big upgrade. Using a high-speed CF Express Type A card, buffer clears in around 4 seconds. For practical use, 20fps feels like the sweet spot, with buffer time becoming almost negligible. Overall, very satisfied with the upgrade and performance.

I am upgraded from the Sony A7C to the A7 V, and the difference is immediately noticeable. The improvements in autofocus speed and image stabilization are significant, making the shooting experience much more confident and responsive. This camera will be my main travel companion, not only for photography but also for video work. The overall performance feels more refined and capable, especially when shooting on the move, which is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased the camera through the pre-order program, and the entire experience was excellent. The packaging was neat and secure, and everything arrived in perfect condition. I also appreciate the complimentary gifts — a 128GB SD card and an additional battery — which add real value and are genuinely useful. One small point worth mentioning: the USB cable was not included in my box. I noticed that some unboxing videos shared online do show a USB cable included, so I was a bit surprised that mine did not come with one. While this is not a major issue, it would have been a nice and practical inclusion. Overall, the A7 V is a substantial upgrade from the A7C and feels like a well-rounded camera for both travel photography and videography.

I bought this camera a month ago and am completely satisfied with it. I previously had a Sony ALPHA IV, and I can see a noticeable difference in image quality. The ‘PRO CAPTURE’ feature is an important one. The autofocus is much better. In short, it was an excellent purchase.

I upgraded from a Sony r iii but have used a Sony 9 and Sony 7A before. I love this new look it’s amazing thank you Sony. It works like a dream I would definitely recommend this to others. Large files so you have been warned.

Have only one week. I’m familiar with Sony cameras so I know is going to be a great experience.
