High-Speed Recording Compatibility Table

The table is based on compatible Sony model information regarding recording and playback of DVD-RWs/+RWs/-Rs/+Rs.

"Recording compatibility" indicates that the disc can be played on the same device that was used to record it. Again, the disc may not be playable depending on the disc or other conditions.

Points to note with regards to the information presented in the tables

• Discs recorded in Video mode do not play on other playback devices unless finalized.
• DVD-Rs/-RWs recorded in VR mode play on VR-compatible playback devices or DVD playback software of PCs. CPRM compatible DVD-Rs/-RWs containing “Copy-Once” programs require a CPRM-compatible device for playback.
• If you made a short recording on a DVD-R/-RW (VR mode)/+RW, finalizing may be necessary depending on the playback device.
• “Copy-Once”programs are recordable only on CPRM-compatible DVD-Rs/DVD-RWs (both in VR mode). You cannot record “Copy-Once” programs on DVD+Rs or DVD+RWs.
• High-speed discs that are not compatible with 1x-speed may not be recorded on some models.
• Defective discs (e.g. non-industry standard) cannot be played or recorded on any model.

The following may also cause a disc to be unplayable

• Physical defects, such as scars, blurs, fingerprints, cracking or warping.
• DVD+RWs/-RWs written on more than 1,000 times.
• Recordings made by computer software that do not conform to the DVD format specifications.
