Does the microphone work when you unplug it and plug it back in?

Unplug the audio cable of the headset and plug it back in for approximately 3 times, while plugging it in firmly during the last time.

  If the microphone works, the issue was caused by poor plug contact or connection. Poor plug contact or connection occurs easily when the plug is not clean. Clean the headset plug regularly using a dry cloth.
