Why do the shortcut icons on the desktop sometimes disappear?
The shortcut icons on the desktop sometimes disappear and new Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder is automatically created on the desktop.
Windows XP is designed to activate Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days. The Desktop Cleanup Wizard moves all shortcuts on the desktop which are not frequently used to the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder.
