Points to take note of when using SonicStage for VAIO.
SonicStage supports the copyright protection technology - OpenMG.
OpenMG has been developed to provide users with the environment where they can easily enjoy music by facilitating the distribution of audio files through the Internet.
Some points to take note of when using SonicStage for VAIO:
1. Audio files purchased through the music distribution service (EMD) and those recorded in the ATRAC3 format are encrypted and controlled by OpenMG. The encrypted audio files, with some exceptions, cannot be moved or copied to another computer for playback.
2. Backup or restore of encrypted audio files should be done for all files controlled by SonicStage with the supplied tool at all times. It is required to establish connection with the Internet during backup or restoration.
3. It is not possible to record audio files to the hard disk that is connected through a plug-and-play interface such as a USB, i.LINK (IEEE1394) and a PC card.
( Backup operation is possible.)

Some points to take note of when using an external device (including Net MD-ready device)/medium supporting OpenMG.
1. Normal audio files can be checked-out to a maximum of 3 portable players that support OpenMG at the same time.
The audio files distributed through the EMD service, however, have their own limitations that are fixed by distributors, on whether they can be checked-out or on the number of units they can be checked-out to.
Therefore, the maximum number of units stated above may not be applicable sometimes.
2. Audio files transferred to an external device/medium can be checked-in only to the VAIO computer from which they were checked-out.
3. To use an external device supporting SonicStage, it is necessary to install the supporting driver/plug-in from the CD-ROM supplied with the device or by downloading them from the Web site.
4. Do not install OpenMG Jukebox Ver.1.* by overwriting it on this software.

1. An audio CD that is created corresponds to the general audio CD standards, but it does not necessarily mean that it can be played back with any kind of CD player. Depending on whether the player supports the CD-R/RW disc, it cannot be properly played back sometimes.
The same thing is applicable to the title display of an audio CD supporting CD TEXT.
2. A CD-ROM created by recording MP3 files (MP3 CD) cannot always be played back by all MP3-ready CD players.
