How to use defragmenter to cleanup hard disk in Window XP?

    Please refer to the following steps to run Disk Defragmenter.

    Note
    User must have at least 15 percent usable free space in order to run Disk Defragmenter.


    1. Start VAIO notebook, press F8 key while VAIO logo appears and select Safe mode by using arrow on keyboard, and then reboot it into Safe Mode. Log on with the administrator account.
    2. Click Start, and then click All ProgramsAccessoriesSystem ToolsDisk Defragmenter.

      Remark
      Click Start, and then click All Programs→Accessories→System Tools→Disk Defragmenter.

      To start Disk Defragmenter, use one of the methods below.

      Double-click My Computer, and right-click the volume that user wants to defragment, and then click Properties. On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now....

      Click Start, and then click Control Panel→Performance and Maintenance→Administrative Tools to start Computer Management. In the left frame of Storage, click Disk Defragmenter.
    3. After Disk Defragmenter displays, select the volume that user wants to defragment, and then click Analyze.

       
    4. Start analyzing.
      It will take much time to analyze the fragmentation.
    5. The Complete Disk Defragmenter dialogue box will display after it finished the analysis.

      The volume that needs a disk defragmentation will display, user can click Disk Defragmenter. Please refer to Step 7.
      If it indicates that no disk defragmentation is needed, user can click Close.

      ※ The following scenarios do not require a disk defragmentation

       
    6. Start Disk Defragmenter.
      Attention: it will take a few minutes or more than ten minutes to analyze the fragmentation.
    7. The Disk Defragmenter dialogue box will display after it finished the analysis.
      Click Close to exit.

    User can defragment hard disk by following the steps above.
