Question

About transferring still pictures that were recorded on a tape using the PHOTO button to a computer.

Answer

When taking a still picture using the PHOTO button on the camcorder, the camcorder saves a 5-7 second still image video clip on the tape while the audio continues to record. When the tape is played back, these images will display like a slide show with the accompanied audio. These still image video clips can be transferred to a computer and saved with or without the audio by using video capture software such as Sony® DVgate® Plus, Microsoft® Windows® Movie Maker, or Apple® Macintosh® i.Movie.
  • To save the still image video clips to a computer with the audio as a movie file (MPEG, AVI, etc.), follow the same procedures for the capture software as you would to capture moving video.
  • To save the still image video clips to a computer without the audio as a still image file (JPEG, BMP, etc.), use the still image capture abilities of the capture software.
