How to resolve if exposure for backlit cannot be adjusted?

Please perform the following corrective action if exposure for backlit cannot be adjusted:
Set the following settings to OFF.

EXPOSURE, MANUAL

SPOT METER
Set
Easy Handycam operation
to OFF.
