Functions of User Account Control (UAC)

Answer

User Account Control (UAC) is a new security component in Windows Vista to help stop unauthorized changes to the computer.

 

What to do when the User Account Control (UAC) dialog box appears

For Administrator, if the dialog box displays as below, click Continue
 
For Standard user, when the dialog box displays as below, type in an Administrator's password and then click OK to proceed.
 

 

■ Re-enable User Account Control (UAC)
1. If User Account Control (UAC) is disabled, the message as below will be received when Windows starts.
 

2. Click Other security settings of Windows Security Center and click Turn on now to re-enable User Account Control (UAC).
 

 

Disable User Account Control (UAC)
1. Click Start -> Control Panel.
2. Click User Accounts 
 
3. In the User Accounts dialog box, click Turn User Account Control on or off.
4. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue or type in administrator password, and click OK.
5. Disable the  Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computeroption, and click OK.


6. When the prompt to restart the computer for the changes to be applied appears, click Restart Now.
