Download and Installation Instructions for USB Driver
* Please ensure that the Handycam is NOT connected to the computer.
To download and install the USB driver, please follow the steps below:
Instructions for Special Procedures AFTER installing the USB Driver for Windows 2000 Operating System
IMPORTANT: If the originally supplied Windows 98/98SE drivers with the following Handycam model is installed onto a computer running on Windows ME Operating System, it is important to ensure that special procedures (below) is performed BEFORE installing the USB driver. Otherwise, please proceed to download the USB driver and follow the Download and Installation Instructions for USB Driver listed above.
Instructions for Special Procedures BEFORE installing the USB Driver for Windows ME Operating System
1. Connect the Handycam to the computer with the supplied cable via the USB port.
2. Insert a Memory Stick into the Handycam and turn ON the Handycam.
3. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and System. Click the Device Manager.
4. Scroll down the list of devices, and double-click the Disk drives entry to expand it.
5. Click to highlight the Sony Removable Disk or SONYUCAM Sony DSC Disk entry and click then Remove.
At the Confirm Device Removal box, click OK.
Important: DO NOT restart the computer.
6. Repeat Steps 4 to 5 to delete the following entries in order.
a. Under "Hard disk controllers", delete "Sony USB Device Driver."
b. Under "Universal Serial BUS controllers", delete "Sony USB Mass Storage Class Driver."
7. Disconnect the Handycam from the computer.
8. To change the computer folder view settings to display hidden files and folders, please follow the steps below:
Double-click the My Computer icon. Click View (or Tools) and Folder Options. Click View. Under Advanced Settings, select Show all hidden files and folders.
Note: If the Hide file extensions for known file types is checked, click to remove the checkmark from the box.
Click OK to close the Folder Options window.
Click the X button in the top-right corner to close the My Computer window.
9. Click Start, Search and Files or Folders...
10. At the Find: All Files window, in the Named: field, entersonysys camdisk.
Note: There is a space between sonysys and camdisk.
11. In the Look in: drop-down menu, select Local Disk (C:). Click the Search Now button.
12. Once the Search is complete, right-click on the SONYSYS.SYS file and select Delete from the menu. At the Confirm File Delete box, click Yes.
13. Repeat the process to delete the following files:
* CAMDISK.PDR
* Sony CorporationSONYSYS.INF
* Sony CorporationCAMDISK.INF
Note: Please ensure only the above-mentioned files are deleted. Do not delete any other folders.
14. Disconnect the Handycam from the computer.
15. Restart the computer.
