The NEX-VG20 features a 16.1-megapixel Exmor™ APS HD CMOS Sensor with an imaging area that is 19.5 times larger than the sensors used in conventional camcorders. This enables you to achieve dramatic background defocusing effects that are unmatched by smaller sensors. The large sensor also offers high sensitivity and lower noise, capturing impressive moving images.

With the NEX-VG20, you can capture 16.1-megapixel still images that are similar to those you’ll find in DSLR cameras. And as RAW format is supported, you’ll be getting full access to the widest range of post-processing options.

The NEX-VG20 takes your creative freedom further with a newly developed line-up of E-mount interchangeable lenses that offer a wide range of focal lengths and capabilities. These lenses boast advanced optical designs that can deliver big-camera image quality and features in surprisingly compact packages.

An E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS E-mount zoom lens comes standard in the NEX-VG20. You can count on an 11x optical zoom range, Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilisation with an advanced Active mode and a quiet AF motor for cleaner sound recording and clearer videos.

The Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone features four individual microphone capsules that have been positioned to achieve a 100% improvement in directivity and a 6dB improvement in S/N ratio*. The result is a high quality, immersive sound whether you’re recording in stereo or 5.1ch surround sound.

You’ll enjoy more creative and production options with the NEX-VG20. You can shoot your videos in high-resolution AVCHD standard 50p (60p)* mode or in 25p (24p)* mode with Cinema Tone GammaTM/Cinema Tone ColourTM for a film-like look with extensive expressive potential. That’s in addition to the outstanding image quality already delivered by the advanced APS-C size sensor.

Shooting videos is a snap with the NEX-VG20, thanks to its rotating LCD monitor, pivoting electronic viewfinder eyepiece and hotkey access to shooting parameters. The grip strap has also been enlarged to offer you the greatest comfort and stability.
