Narrow Track Pitch
Just as you can fit more letters onto a sheet of paper with more lines, in order to save more data on a disc, you must increase the number of "lines" or tracks on it. The track pitch of a disc is the equivalent of "line-spacing" on a sheet of paper. While the track pitch of DVDs is 0.74 micro-metres, and MOs 1.3 micro-metres, Professional Disc utilizes Sony's stamper technology to achieve a narrow track pitch f 0.32 micro-metres, which is less than half of a DVD. This narrow pitch gives the Professional Disc a high recording density.
