Tape Maintenance
Maintenance of tapes and drive
- The lifespan of media greatly depends on environmental temperature, humidity, number of times used, amount of dust in the operation environment as well ashow regularly machines are serviced and cleaned.
- It is imperative to always maintain clean working drives. Remember to carry out cleaning methods in accordance to drives manual provided by manufacturers.
- In order to prevent head-clogging, two cleaning methods are recommended:
- Using cleaning cassette
- Manual cleaning
- Manual hand cleaning is a process using special cleaning cloth and cleaning fluid to clean drive's parts. Cleaning frequencies depend on tape material and/or environmental conditions. For metal tape cassette machines, we recommend using cleaning cassette once every 50 hours of drive operation and manual hand cleaning once every 100 to 200 hours of drive operation.
