To give metal tape greater durability under the stress of repeated use, this binder achieves a 50% greater cross-linking density. Therefore, RF output degradation remains minimal even after 500 passes in slow mode - important for cart machines and repeated editing.
Dropout prevention & archival stability
Sony combats dropouts in three ways: the stronger binder secures the particles to the tape; sophisticated new quality control stabilizes the dropout count; and the anti-static lid deters dust attraction. For archiving, Sony's alumina-silica metal particle coating keeps retentivity and coercivity high after years of storage.
Extended head life & low noise
Newly applied lubricants controlfriction to improve tape-to-head contact and weaken shearing force which affects head life. Controlled surface roughness also helps minimize modulation noise for a higher C/N ratio.
