I cannot open the COM2 port of PCG-SR9G/T on the hyper terminal.

(To reproduce the symptom)
1. Click the "Start" button, and then click "Hyper Terminal" from "Programs"-"Accessories"-"Communications".

2. Double-click the "Hypertrm" icon or "Hypertrm.exe".

3. Type any letters in "Name" in the dialog box of "Connection Description" and click the "OK" button.

4. Type any numbers in "Phone number" in the dialog box of "Connect to" and click "Direct to Com2" from the list box of "Connect using".

5. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box of "Connect to" and the following error message appears.
"Unable to open COM2"

The built-in modem is assigned to the port other than the COM2 port.

As the built-in modem is assigned to the port other than the COM 2 port, you cannot access the COM2 port even when you select it on the hyper terminal. The message, "Unable to open COM2", appears, but it does not mean the problem of the modem.

On the notebook computer that has neither a serial port nor a parallel port, the modem is assigned to a different port as mentioned below. (* Models to which the port replicator can be connected are considered as the computers that have the serial/parallel port.)

The built-in modem is assigned to the COM1 port on these models. Select the COM1 port when you open the COM port directly on the hyper terminal and operate it with the AT command.
