How to view picture in 4K/HDR

4K (50p/60p):


To play back content in 4K, connect the TV to an HDMI device that supports 4K.
To view 4K picture at 18Gbps*

  • Use the Premium high speed HDMI cable which supports 18 Gbps*.
  • Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI2 or HDMI3 terminal on the TV.

    NOTE: For models made in 2016 or earlier, it may be possible to view picture via HDMI terminals other than those stated above.

  • Set HDMI signal format to Enhanced format.
    1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select External inputs in the TV category.
    4. Select HDMI signal format and set to Enhanced format.

*4K (50, 60 Hz) of YCbCr 4:4:4, YCbCr 4:2:2, YCbCr 4:2:0 / 10bit, RGB, etc.

HDR (High dynamic Range):

NOTE:

  • 4K Models (except S80xxC Series, X83xxC Series and X80xxC_X81xxC Series):
    HDR is supported.
  • 2K Models:
    • HDR game titles of all PS4 games via HDMI.
    • HDR videos of the built-in Netflix application and YouTube application.

To play back content in HDR, connect the TV to an HDMI device that supports HDR.
Set HDMI signal format to Enhanced format.

  1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select External inputs in the TV category.
  4. Select HDMI signal format and set to Enhanced format.

    NOTE: For models made in 2016 and later, playback may be possible even when HDMI signal format is set to Standard format.
